Since this trip was our honeymoon, for this leg of the trip where it landed on Valentine’s Day as well, we decided to splurge a bit and stay at a resort. Using our points, we were able to get a 4-night at The I.S.O. (Island Sea Ocean) in Kapa’a along the east coast of Kauai.
We had some amazing views, and across the street from the resort was a complex that provided everything we needed from a go-to happy hour spot to laundromat (yes, we did laundry) – it was quite convenient!

Unsuccessful Beach Park Visits
Maybe because it was the time of the year, but when we went to the beach, it was either cold with strong waves, overly polluted due to a rain storm, or constantly raining. We didn’t have much luck with any beaches in Kauai.
Embracing the Sun
But when the sun is out, even a little bit, we embrace it 100% and go out and about to continue our sightseeing adventures to make the most of it!
Sometimes Unlucky, But Always Fortunate
I really wanted to hike the Sleeping Giant Trail Head, but the moment we started hiking, it started to drizzle. After about half a mile in, it started to pour and we had to head back out. Even though we missed the hike, we made it for an amazing rainbow. The thing we have learned to embrace about Hawaii is that even though rain may set our plans back, it will always compensate us with a beautiful rainbow.
A Taste of Kauai
Homemade Poke Bowl Salads
We went to Pono Market for some fresh fish, and then a local supermarket to get a box of salad to make our own Poke Salad Bowls. This was essentially our breakfast for 3 days (6 meals!) – totally worth it!

Valentine’s Day
This day started with high winds and heavy rain – we pretty much accepted it as a cuddle day. But we were too antsy to get out, and we are so glad we did. We saw so many rainbows!

Working Remote
The one perk with the ability to work remote is that even though I start my day pitch black at 4:30a, I can throw up a hammock at a beach or a park when the sun is out, and end my day at 12:30p with still about 8 hours to explore and go on adventures. It is exhausting, and sometimes, it is better to really just take the time off. But traveling, vacationing, and working is all exhausting, just in a different way. So as long as we embrace it and enjoy it, it is all that matters. Now, onto our next and last stop of our journey in Hawaii – Maui!
